About the Brand
Kapakahi is a Hawaiian pidgin term meaning “mixed up”. Kapakahi Party Shirts are a modern take on the classic aloha. Garments are made with naturally dyed cotton and their unique design comes from block print, a traditional Indian technique that involves hand stamping with a wooden block. Their shirts are created in partnership with Saheli Women, a women’s sewing collective located within the desert of Rajasthan, India. The idea for the brand came to founder, Maggie Benson, during a summer spent working with IPHD, the parent NGO of Saheli Women. On a mission to develop an ethical brand that paid homage to her home of Hawaii with elements of India, Kapakahi was born.
