Mr. Chickenpants pin
Size: 2.5” x 1”
Meet Hawaii State Art Museum’s official mascot, Mr. Chickenpants, a half-mongoose, half-chicken monster, inspired by the Hawaiian story of Puapualenalena. Puapualenalena is a mischievous magical shape-shifting dog, a loyal pet of an old man would use his shape-shifting powers to provide his master with his favorite ‘awa or Kava. The root was an herbal remedy that people used to relieve anxiety and promote sleep. Like the dog in the story, the original monster figure kept changing shape during the process of making it and ended up in the form you see today in HiSAM.
