Louvette risograph-printed typeface specimen booklet. Louvette typeface specimen, 24 pages, 2-color Risograph on heavy weight bristol vellum, printed at The Arm in Brooklyn. This booklet showcases the typeface, Louvette, through the lense of art making, and collaboration between artists. It includes an original text by performer and choreographer Eleanor Bauer (recently featured in Matthew Barneyâ€™s 2019 film â€œRedoubtâ€), numerous posters for artists which use Louvette, and a poem about Louvette composed by Ben Bernthal based only on a few key words: Artist, Sharp, Modern, Louvette. Less than 70 of these were made and will likely not be reprinted.
About the Artist
CJ Type <https://cjtype.com> is the typeface design work of CJ Dunn. Based in New York City, CJ designs typefaces for retail and custom clients. He enjoys both making type and using type, and is interested in the dialog between the two practices. CJ first got hooked on typography and typeface design while studying with Ed Benguiat at The School of Visual Arts in New York. He later completed a Post-graduate Certificate in typeface design from The Cooper Union. He started working for Font Bureau in 2013 and in 2016 he launched his own digital type foundry, CJ Type. Since then his typefaces have been used everywhere <https://fontsinuse.com/foundry/1947/cj-type> from a video series for Mercedes to an exhibition in Seoul designed by Na Kim, a classical concert series in Brooklyn, to a Berlin-based meal service.
