About the Artist
Nicholas Kaleikini is a well-known local ukulele player, pianist and classically-trained saxophonist whose music is a mesh of jazz-influenced style and today’s modern sounds. When he's not in the studio creating music or performing on stage, he teaches music to students of all ages at Kailua School of Music and is also one of the Music Directors of POW!WOW! Hawaii.
His grandfather, Danny Kaleikini, the "Ambassador of Aloha," is a living legend in Hawaiian entertainment drawing audiences from around the world for well over 50 years with his romantic baritone.
The grandfather-grandson duo released an album, Mahaaalo, a joint project featuring their original music. Nicholas explains the album as "a fusion of [his] grandfather’s traditional Hawaiian musical style and [his] modern blues/jazz style." This album was their first release of original music.
