ʻAkekeʻe are endemic to the forests of Kauaʻi. Their asymmetrical bill allows them to extract insects that live within ‘ōhiʻa leaves and flower buds. ʻAkekeʻe are known to sing high pitched trills or “whisper song” that can be heard especially durging foggy weather.
