Koʻolau Haiku by LELEʻIOHOKU

Koʻolau Haiku is a four-part collection of poetry in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian) and English, inspired by the style of Japanese haiku (俳句) and Native Hawaiian proverbs (ʻōlelo noʻeau), that invites readers to meditate on love, loss, healing, and hope.

Leleʻiohoku is an ʻōiwi poet who hopes to uplift ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi and others through haiku that reflect a mixture of Hawaiian and Japanese cultural heritage by blending Zen aesthetics and philosophy with local subjects and scenery of Hawaiʻi.
